This blog entry contains the communications between Goffstown resident Ben Hampton and Superintendent Stacy Buckley regarding the Request for Proposals issued by the school district in search of a consultant who supposedly will shed light on the problems at Mountain View Middle School.  It also contains Professor Hampton’s resume so you can judge for yourself whether or not he’s qualified.  We’ll gladly accept your comments below.  Thanks!

Mrs. Stacy Buckley, Superintendent of Schools

Goffstown School District

11 School Street

Goffstown, NH 03045

Dear Superintendent:

In response to your comment in The Union Leader of May 12 2012, “…Buckley said that if Hampton wishes to be considered as a consultant, he is welcome to forward his resume and a proposal, and the district will factor that into its final decision….” I am making a formal request for the RFP for the MVMS study plan that has been referred to in the School Committee minutes of April 2 and April 14, 2012. You may submit the document to the address above.

Upon receipt of this document, I will forward my resume and proposal to address the items you had outlined in your report to the School Committee of May 12, 2012. I quote from these minutes, “…Superintendent Buckley reviewed the proposed MVMS Study Plans and timelines. Mrs. Buckley stated the intent of the MVMS study is to bring a consultant led team of school leaders, instructional personnel and educational constituents together to form a comprehensive study for which facts and data will be measured. Mrs. Buckley stated the mission is to create an educational environment that provides students, faculty, staff, and the community with rigorous educational opportunities, a positive culture and climate, and an exemplar for other middle schools….”

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely yours,

Benjamin H. Hampton

Adjunct Professor, Manchester Community College

Ben,

Thank you for your interest in submitting a proposal to complete the study at MVMS. I have attached the outline of the proposal as provided to other vendors.

I would be looking for submittal of the following:

A detailed document of how you would propose this study happening. This should include details of how you would gather data that we currently do not have- which can be identified in the proposal.

Copies of resumes of all people who would be involved in the study.

Background of your firm and experiences in providing similar studies. Any copies of studies done previously would be helpful as well.

Experiences in Middle School and knowledge of exemplar middle school expectations and outcomes.

Any costs associated with the study.

Anticipated timeline for completion of the study and the follow up work with the committee.

Experiences of your firm in working with teams to establish a plan for the recommendations and follow up work with the committee.

The SAU would need to be in receipt of your proposal prior to the end of the work day on Wednesday for us to consider your proposal. We have been working on this portion of the process and are expecting to bring a proposal to the school board on Monday.

Sincerely,

Stacy Buckley

Superintendent of Schools
