Boyd: A mentor lost

Boyd: A mentor lost

Words often fail, at moments such as this, to fully expressed what Dave Yakuboff’s passing means to our community.

Personally, he was a role model, mentor and friend to me during my time on the Town Council. I can’t even begin to express the level of effort he gave me during our time working with each other on the Council. But, for our community, he was a very well-respected businessman.

Quietly generous, financially and otherwise, Dave helped out a variety of charitable and civic causes in town for the betterment of our community. He served honorably in the United States Navy, and was very committed to our veterans and those servicemen and women returning from abroad. But, most importantly, he was the consummate family man.

He loved his wife, children and grandchildren with passion and devotion. He and his wife, Priscilla, traveled frequently and was constantly sharing new pictures of his grand kids which were a tremendous source of pride for him. And, he was always talking about which child, which grandchild was doing what. He absolutely adored his wife and family.

When you hear a person talking about making a community a great place to work, live and raise a family, you look and think about people like Dave Yakuboff. He personified that sentiment. He was wholly vested in Merrimack, and wholly committed to his family. He was truly committed to making Merrimack a great place to work, live and raise a family. He lived it. We are going to miss him horribly as a consequence.

Our prayers and blessings go out to Yakuboff family
