Sid Glassner(Hour 3b, c)

(Hour 3b) Senior Fellow Sid Glassner was delighted to hear that Mayor Gatsas is rejecting the “One Size Fits All” approach being forced on us by the NH Department of Education (Smarter Balanced testing).

Glassner took it one step further and discussed the damage and distraction to teachers and students that uniform testing causes.

Glassner pointed out that these state mandates should be considered AGREEMENTS, not laws, until someone in Concord proves otherwise.

(Hour 3c) Glassner addressed the “fuzzy language” by Commissioner Virginia Barry and advised the Manchester School Board to ask for CLARITY in forcing the issue.

If the educational community generally agrees that “One Test Fits All” is a bad idea, why are they pushing standardized testing?

The simple answer is  P-O-W-E-R.  Just the latest example of the federal government’s push for more centralized power.  At the expense of local control.

Also, how public school systems are suckers for the newest technology, while textbooks remain the best learning tools ever invented.
