Sid GlassnerSid read a passage from the book “Bambi” in an effort to share the beauty of words, thoughts and ideas that are in much of children’s and young adult literature.  The Common Core English Language Standards diminishes the role of fiction in the lives of our children and in the process deprives our students of the incredible beauty that can be found between the covers of good literature.   The discussion then moved onto the current nature of what pre-K and kindergarten experiences should be for young students.  The show ended with an introductory discussion of the new education act, ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) — since the act consists of 1061 pages it will be impossible to analyze all of it however, we will continue to do so on the show especially covering those areas of the law that rarely if ever get media coverage but carries significant meaning.
