(Hours 3a,b,c) Sid GlassnerWe were joined by Sid Glassner, Senior Fellow with the New England Society for the Study of Education.  He and Rich discussed the teacher’s contract and we heard the clips from the teacher’s protests.

(Hour 3b) We continued with Sid, who spoke to us about redistricting for Is Our Children Learning.  He wondered about the absence of involvement from teachers.  Rich reminded him that teachers rarely speak up in issues that don’t affect their pay.

(Hour 3c) Sid talked to Rich about his negative experience with the Veterans Administration.  He then spoke about a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math Education) problem.  He commented on teaching as a career and the image that it has developed over the past couple of decades.  Rich shared his experience as a substitute teacher and spoke about the mentality found within their ranks.  They also spoke about professional development.
