(Hours 3a,b,c) Sid GlassnerSid Glassner, Senior Fellow with the New England Society for the Study of Education, spoke to Rich about the PDK (Phi Delta Kappa) Poll that was referenced in last week’s segment (Click here for more information).  They spoke about the new books that have been introduced to the Manchester School District and commented on the importance of imagination.

(Hour 3b) Rich and Sid continued in their discussion of the PDK Poll.  They shared that a majority of Americans oppose allowing public school parents to excuse children from taking standardized testing and speculated about the reason for this statistic.  They then made comparisons between the public school system and charter schools.

(Hour 3c) Sid talked about state mandates that are funded by billionaires, who are pushing towards a competency-based education curriculum.  He and Rich also discussed educational proficiency and wondered what it takes to achieve such a feat.
