Pappas: Resigining

Quote:

It is with deep regret that due to my current housing issue, I will no longer be living in Ward 6 and I must resign per the Manchester City Charter.  My resignation is effective Friday, March 31st, 2017.

That’s what Manchester Ward Six Alderman Nick Pappas wrote to Mayor Ted Gatsas and Board of Alderman Chairman Patrick Long in a letter sent yesterday.  Pappas was elected in November 2 0 1 5.

In an interview with Girard at Large, Pappas said he and his wife had put their home on the market as they looked for a new one and were caught by surprise by a full price offer just four days after it was listed.  He’s been unable to find housing in the ward, including something to rent in the short term while he continues his search.  In the letter, he said serving rewarding, humbling and a great honor.

MST scores big

The Manchester School of Technology’s FIRST Robotics competition team came home victorious from the New England District Greater Boston competition, just weeks after the first-ever team at MST was established. Team 6 7 6 3 placed third on its own, then captained the alliance team that won first place in another part of the competition. In addition, the team received the Rookie Highest Seed Award for scoring the highest points in a match and the Rookie All-Star Award.

MST’s Career and Technical Education program allowed the team to make use of its many resources including advanced C N C machining, welding and CAD design.

The victors!

In addition to all of their hard work on the field, Team 6763 students have shared their learning experience with children at Manchester Police Athletic League.

The most recent results from Boston put the team in third place in New England as they head to another district-level event hosted by U N H from April sixth through ninth.  From there, if it is the highest scoring rookie team or places high enough to gain enough merit points, the team will qualify for the World Championship in St. Louis, MO, on April 26.

Congrats and good luck!
