Mayor Ted Gatsas(Hour 3b, c)

(Hour 3b) In a week devoid of Aldermanic and School Board meetings, Mayor Ted Gatsas joined us for a more casual conversation.

That doesn’t mean we didn’t discuss important matters.

Ted gave us his take on the lockdown at West High School, the response by Manchester Police and what the City might do differently about school security moving forward.

“People looking to cause mayhem will find a way to do it,” said Gatsas.

The Mayor told us about how he met his wife, “a very good cook” and shared his passion for horses and the “underrated athletes” that ride them.

(Hour 3c) Mayor Gatsas commented on the findings of a study on Manchester Schools by the NH Center for Public Policy Studies.

He and the humble host debated demographics.  Should the City reevaluate zoning practices?  Are “radical demographic shifts” over the past decade and a half attributable to decisions made at City Hall?

We heard about a busy, busy weekend coming that includes the Fire Prevention Parade, the Empty Bowls Fundraiser for New Horizons, the Foot Race for the Fallen and the Luke Capistran Memorial 5K.
