(Hours 3a,b,c) Sid GlassnerWe were joined this morning by Sid Glassner, Senior Fellow with the New England Society for the Study of Education, for Is Our Children Learning.  He and Rich started by talking about Thomas Hassan and his handling of a controversy at Phillips Exeter Academy.

(Hour 3b) Sid talked to us about a letter written to Jeanne Shaheen, about the nomination of John King to the position of Secretary of Education, and her response letter.  We heard about protected speech in the country and civility in society.

(Hour 3c) We heard about technology in the schools from Sid.  He spoke about a new non-profit organization to help school districts compare prices for technological devices.  They talked about standardized tests and determining the effectiveness of teachers.  Finally, Rich spoke about the use of technology to foster group projects.
