The “Civility” of Joe Biden

A local newspaper recently endorsed Joe Biden’s candidacy for President of these not so United States.  Candidly, that didn’t come as a surprise given the paper’s oft expressed contempt for President Donald J. Trump.  Clearly, they’re anchor tenants of the Never Trump Movement.

While the paper praised President Trump’s many admirable accomplishments from his first term in office…including judicial appointments, tax policy, support for gun rights, even inroads to Middle East peace,” and acknowledged that they came “despite many in the media and Congress working to stop him at every opportunity,” it complained that he “weaponized” social media and called him a “consummate linguistic takedown artist.”  Despite all President Trump has done to rebuild America, they state that ability to “build this country up…appears to be outside of Mr. Trump’s skill set.”  Really?

Incredibly, they then claim that “Building this country up sits squarely within the skill set of Joseph Biden,” who they claim to have found “to be a caring, compassionate and professional pubic servant (who) has repeatedly expressed his desire to be a president for all of America.”  The paper wrote that it took Biden “at his word” claiming “He will be a president to bring people together and right the ship of state.”

If those who wrote this really take Joe Biden at his word, how can they actually believe what they wrote?

“If you have a problem figuring out whether you’re for me or Trump, then you ain’t black.”  That’s what Joe Biden told The Breakfast Club radio show host Charlamagne tha God, a very influential show and man in the black community.  How’s that for an expression of civility that brings people together?

Then there’s what he said when running for reelection as Vice President in 2012 when he told a black audience that Republicans were going to put y’all back in chains” if Mitt Romney won the presidency.  Nothing says “togetherness” like accusing half the country of wanting to re-enslave black people.

When Biden hasn’t been silent about the mob violence that has trashed, looted and burned cities across the country, he’s been an apologist for the perpetrators, recently calling such violence “a cry for justice,” fanning the flames of racial tension.  In support of these efforts, his running mate, Kamala Harris, leads fundraising efforts to post bail for those arrested for fueling the mayhem that accompanied the rioting, looting, firebombing of police vehicles and private property, assault and even murder; efforts that many on his campaign staff have contributed to.

Speaking of which, where was Biden the Civil at any time following the assaults on and murders of police officers across the country?  Biden’s silence was meant to convey that he was firmly on the side of those targeting the police.  Are you feeling the love, yet?

Those who think Biden’s will be a “civil” presidency ought to remember just how well the Obama – Biden Administration did at “bringing Americans together.”  Where was Biden the Civil when Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano issued a report giving “guidance” to federal, state and local law enforcement agencies across the country on how to “identify domestic terrorists” in 2009?  You might not remember that one but the Obama – Biden Administration counted as potential “terrorists” those who:

  • Were unemployed, lost their home or had poor credit
  • Criticized the “outsourcing of jobs” or expressed concerns about foreign threats
  • Opposed to gun control, were supporters of the Second Amendment
  • Were veterans returning from active duty deployment overseas (they were a particular risk to become “lone wolf” terrorists because of their combat training.)
  • Opposed illegal immigration
  • Opposed free trade agreements
  • Were Pro-Life
  • Supported traditional marriage
  • Were active Christians
  • Opposed Communism and “New World Order” global government initiatives

This is the “civility” of the party, policies and movement that Biden sits atop.

Should we be surprised that Biden remained silent while the administration he served as vice president condemned more than half the population as potential domestic terrorists?

Remember, Joe Biden was Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee that began the character assassination of nominees to the Supreme Court made by Republican presidents.  They started with Judge Robert Bork, a brilliant jurist nominated by President Ronald Reagan.  He was so defamed by Biden the Civil and the rest of the “civil left,” that the process of assassinating the characters of judicial nominees became known as “Borking.”

Who else got “Borked” by Biden.  Justice Clarence Thomas.  Justice Samuel Alito.

Who else got “Borked” because Biden embarked on the character assassination of Supreme Court nominees?  Justice Neal Gorsuch.  And, most notably of all, Justice Brett Kavanaugh.  All the while, Biden cheered the smear of these good and noble people.

Joe Biden’s record of civility is clear.  He’s very civil to those who agree with his radical leftist agenda; not so much to those who disagree with him.  In the best tradition of the “tolerant left,” he brooks no dissent from the agenda he and his leftist friends wish to force on this country and will stop at nothing to ensure that his opposition is silenced and that will include the newspaper that pledged its disagreement with the laundry list of Biden policy positions it admits it opposes.  Perhaps the paper that desires civility above all and claims to believe Biden will bring it could explain just why it “takes him at his word.”
