Harriet Cady: Girard learns, listens and seeks knowledge

endorsement Harriet Cady

For Immediate Release

MANCHESTER, NH  July 23, 2021--The campaign for Republican Manchester mayoral candidate Richard Girard released the endorsement of Right to Know advocate Harriet Cady today.  Cady, a winner of the New England First Amendment Award, is founder of New Hampshire Right to Know, an advocacy group that seeks both to improve access to government information and assist citizens around the state with Right to Know requests to local governments, school districts and state agencies.  Cady has been involved with Right to Know legislation and issues for decades.

In accepting the endorsement, Girard praised her steadfast efforts to make government more transparent.  “To some people, Harriet’s a real pain in the neck.  They’re usually the ones that have something to hide.  Her efforts have made government much more transparent and accessible to the people.  As people who’ve followed my political and news broadcast activities know, I have often been forced to file Right to Know requests and Harriet has helped me whenever needed.  Manchester’s government and school district have a long way to go to before many would consider them open and transparent.  With Harriet’s help, I will design policies that will make it easier for residents of the city to know exactly what’s going on.  I am grateful for Harriet’s support and thank her for it.”

Statement of support from Harriet Cady, Right to Know advocate:

I remember meeting Rich Girard after he called me asking about the legality of a Right to Know issue. He was quite impressed by the Right to Know law that made public officials accountable to the people. He continued to want to learn and had me as a guest on his talk radio show so the listeners could become informed of their right to know their government.

As I came to know Rich,I realized he always wants to know what citizens have as rights and takes great pleasure in learning himself whatever public issue comes up.Rich even hosted the NH Center for Constitutional Studies, bringing his children to the workshops to learn about their constitution from learned speakers. As I grew to know Rich over the years, I realized he would always seek the knowledge, especially in any public arena he chooses to be in.

I personally endorse Richard Girard to become Manchester’s nextmayor knowing he understands RSA 91-A is the people’s right to know what their government does for them.
