For Immediate Release
MANCHESTER, NH. July 26, 2021–The mayoral campaign of Manchester Republican Richard Girard released the endorsement of former State Senator Richard Danais, today. Danais, who chaired the Senate Insurance Committee and was Assistant Majority Leader, represented District 20, which includes Manchester’s wards 3, 4, 10 and 11. Professionally, he has developed and managed commercial/industrial real estate in the city for decades. He also develops and manages property around the state and in Vermont, Massachusetts and Florida.
In announcing the endorsement, Girard praised Danais’ work to bring jobs to the city. “I remember a Union Leader editorial praising Dick as a guy who didn’t duck issues. That served him and his constituents well in the state senate and it continues to serve him well in business. Dick understands commercial/industrial real estate as well as anybody and the properties he’s developed and managed have brought good jobs to our city. City leaders and regulators need to be smart, fair, cooperative and innovative in working with those who build our economic infrastructure. There’s too much competition from the surrounding towns for the developments that provide jobs and increase the tax base. As mayor, that’s what I will focus on and I’m honored to have Dick Danais’ support.”
Statement of support from Sen. Dick Danais:
I’m supporting Rich Girard because Manchester is going in the wrong direction on housing, Safe Station and inner-city development. Manchester needs new thinking; a different approach to economic development and reuse of distressed properties. It’s not business friendly. We need new leadership because the mayor has lost control of the aldermanic board.
