For Immediate Release
MANCHESTER, NH August 25, 2021–The campaign of Manchester Republican mayoral candidate Rich Girard released the endorsement of State. Rep. Fred Plett, today. Plett is currently the Clerk of the House Science, Technology and Energy Committee and services on the Oil Fund Disbursement Board. He retired from the utilities industry, in which he served as the assistant to the president of Public Service Company of NH and developed the financial model that helped finance the Seabrook nuclear power plant. He also served in the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office of Ratepayer Advocacy. He has extensive experience working with the New England Power Pool, on the Board of Directors at the Northeast Power Coordinating Council, on the Member Representatives and Standards Committees of the North American Electric Reliability Council and in other capacities
In announcing the endorsement, Girard said Plett’s expertise in energy issues was a real plus for the state. “Fred is one of the nicest and smartest guys I know. He’s open to working with anybody until they show themselves not to be true to their word. I saw this first hand when he left the Granite State Organizing Project because it wasn’t the bi-partisan organization it claimed to be. His expertise in the energy field has been of enormous value to the state and, as mayor, I know I’ll be able to call on Fred to help us better manage our energy costs and needs here in Manchester. I’m honored to have Fred’s support and thank him for it.”
Statement of support from State Rep. Fred Plett:
I’ve known Rich Girard for years and considered at one time joining him in the financial services business. I have always viewed him as very intelligent, honest and direct. I have admired his ability to connect with people. He is level headed and has strong leadership capabilities. I strongly support his campaign to be Manchester’s mayor.
