For Immediate Release
MANCHESTER, NH August 25, 2021–The mayoral campaign of Manchester Republican Rich Girard released the endorsement today of former State Rep. John Hikel. Hikel, who served three terms in the NH House of Representatives, also chaired the planning board, was vice-chair of the budget committee and a small business owner for 35 years in Goffstown. He’s been a Republican for more than 40 years.
In accepting the endorsement, Girard thanked Hikel for his support. “During my time on the radio, I interviewed John many times on state and local matters. There were many interesting things happening in Goffstown during John’s tenure on the planning board and his insights into local land use issues was always interesting. John was a change agent in town who upset some established apple carts, proving unstirred pots burned. He took his hits but kept pushing forward those things he believed were right. It’s my honor to have the support of someone like John who knows what he believes and why and isn’t afraid to roll up his sleeves and get things done.”
Statement of support from former State Rep. John Hikel:
I have always liked and respected Rich Girard on every encounter that I had with him. He’s always been respectful, welcoming, and very knowledgeable of the current days news and what’s happening in Manchester. It hurts when I see the decline in Manchester from a once pretty good city to now a place where people just don’t want to go anymore. I sold a house a few months ago to someone from Manchester and they told me that they could not wait to get out of that city with their children. Based on what I know of Richard Girard and my personal experiences with him, I think he would make a wonderful mayor of Manchester. There’s no doubt about that the present one needs to be voted it out and sent packing. It’s with great pleasure that I can write this letter of endorsement to Richard’s mayoral campaign and I hope you support him too.
