Buckley: Girard is the obvious choice

MANCHESTER, NH  September 16, 2021–The mayoral campaign of Manchester Republican Richard H. Girard released the endorsement of Candia School Board member Dana Buckley, today.  Buckley is in his fifth year on the board and is a former board member of the School District Governance Association of NH.  He defeated then board chair Nicole LaFlamme, who spearheaded the adoption of the same transgendered student policy adopted by the Manchester Board of School Committee in January.  That policy was they key issue in the campaign.  Along with board members Matt Woodrow and Stephanie Helmig, who was elected that same year, Buckley led the board’s repeal of the controversial policy that barred the school from telling parents about the transgender or gender non-conforming behaviors of their children in school and also enabled biological boys to play on girls sports teams, among other items, such as bathroom use.  Every incumbent that voted for the policy was either defeated in the next election or chose not to run for reelection.

Said Girard of Buckley’s endorsement, “Dana’s campaign for office and subsequent work on the Candia School Board were not only masterful, they were proof that when given a chance, voters choose common sense over the woke mob’s destructive political correctness.  As with Manchester, there was no practical need for that kind of policy and there haven’t been any issues since it was replaced.  As the only pressing issue in need of resolution at the Manchester school board was Joyce Craig’s left wing agenda, Manchester similarly had no reason to adopt this inherently destructive and discriminatory policy.  There are better ways to ensure people’s rights are safeguarded without infringing on the rights of others, especially those of parents.  I thank Dana for his support and anticipate we’ll be talking about how their policy works after I’m elected mayor.”

Statement of Support from Candia School Board member Dana Buckley:

Rich Girard is the only candidate in the Manchester mayoral race who possesses the vision and the resolve needed to overcome the tough challenges facing the city of Manchester.  Rich’s passion for improving the quality of life for all Manchester residents is unparalleled.  He offers a refreshing, holistic approach to leadership that is sorely needed in combatting crime, improving education and addressing homelessness.  He is the obvious choice.
