MANCHESTER, NH  September 27, 2021– Manchester Republican mayoral candidate Richard H. Girard announced that City Clerk Matthew Normand has scheduled the recount he requested for Friday, October 1, 2021.  It will start at 9:00 AM at the Carol M. Rines Center, 1528 Elm St. Manchester, NH 03101.  That building houses the city’s health department and also serves as the Ward 3 polling place.

Normand said there will be at least 8 counting teams and he hopes for as many as 12 so that the recount can be done quickly.

Said Girard, “We’ll need to have at least one campaign representative per counting team.  It is my hope that many who said you were interested in helping would let me know your availability now that the recount’s been scheduled. If you can’t make it for 9 AM but might be able to come later in the morning, that would also be helpful.  With that many teams counting, I’m hoping we could be done in under 5 hours.”

Girard said those able to help could reach him at [email protected]

“With about 900 absentee ballots cast, 116 ballots that didn’t register a vote and what happened in Windham, one never knows how these things might turn out.  It’s important to verify the vote given how close it was,” concluded Girard.
