Mayor Ted Gatsas(Hour 3b, c) A feisty Mayor Ted Gatsas came in with both barrels blazing this morning.

Gatsas sang the praises of Manchester teachers for the hard work they’ve put in to the development of the Academic Standards.  He believes the process is just starting, deserves our support and needs time.

Rich also gave credit to the teachers, but questioned whether or not the “game has been rigged” in favor of Common Core.

The extension of Superintendent Livingston’s contract was discussed.

Rich asked about waivers on smarter balanced assessments before turning to the Manchester Budget.

Mayor Gatsas had much to say about new forecasts, projected surpluses, the Tax Cap and expanded personnel costs at the Manchester Fire Department.

“The entire City government needs to be overhauled in what we do,” said Gatsas.  His hope is that cooler heads prevail in getting a budget done.

Gatsas commented on the investigation into anonymous threatening phone calls to Aldermen Barbara Shaw and Bill Shea.  Did the Mayor’s office phone number really come up on caller ID?
