Judy Loubier of Seniors Helping Seniors New Hampshire started Caring for Seniors by talking to the listeners about interactions between herself and Rich apart from the microphone. She then told a heartfelt story about a member of her organization, David Dionne.

Hello,
Just wanted to thank you for the story on David Dionne. I worked with him for several years at the College, and really was a phenomenal person. Not only intelligent, and supportive, but he had a great dry sense of humor, which showed as told us the same funny/quirky stories over and over. It was definitely a part of his charm.
When he left the College we did not hear much from or about him. Much of what you said is heartbreaking, but thank you for taking him in and giving him a chance. He clearly had the same impact on you that he had on us.

I worked with David at Hesser College. I am deeply saddened to hear of both his mental and physical health issues. The fact that David lost his ID is very symbolic. He had lost his way as many do. Finding him in a snowbank on his way to Florida, you would not know he was a quirky, highly intelligent and thoughtful man.
Thank you for your generosity and support of David. He was a kind soul. “The miracle of David” was contingent on the help of virtual strangers which is both heartbreaking and inspirational. Thank you for sharing David’s story. He will be missed by many.

I also worked with David for 15 years and took a course with him at Hesser College. Brilliant man. He touched so many lives with his huge heart. He knew everything about everything, especially Manchester. I used to ask him all kinds of questions regarding economics and politics and he always had an answer. Sadly, he lost touch after leaving the college but I always thought of him. He was loved by many, including me.
RIP to a great man who will be missed by all.

I am so saddened with this news. David was one of my first instructors in college and I had the pleasure of working with him for 20+ years after graduation. He was a unique individual with a huge heart. My prayers go out to all that had the pleasure of knowing David. RIP David……
Thanks for sharing his story. I worked with Dave and have often thought about him. I guess everyone will mention his stories. He seemed to truly love to tell a little story or a joke. You never knew where he was going once he began but I was always glad I took the time to listen. Miss you Dave!
I am also saddened to hear about Dave but so grateful to the Southern NH Rescue Mission for helping him to find his purpose again in the last couple of years of his life. I worked with Dave for years at Hesser College. He was a genuine, kind-hearted man who was always willing to get up from his desk and help with anything you needed. He provided an invaluable service to students. I clicked on this link never expecting to hear what Judy described. I imagined to hear about his struggle with cancer. This is an incredible story of giving, life coming full circle and some amazing people… one of which is Dave. Thank you for sharing his story… he will be missed by so many who’s lives he touched.

I also worked with David at the College. He was a caring soul who felt deeply and loved sharing his thoughts with others. He was very interested in politics and knew the nuances of every candidates’ proposed policies in any given election. I should have followed up to see how he was doing after he left. All I can say now is, rest in peace, dear David.

This was a heartfelt story indeed. Dave was a fantastic person who was always willing to go out of his way to help anyone he could. I was also lucky enough to work with him at the College, and I’m glad he was able to restart his life with Seniors Helping Seniors. I worked with David (or Double D as I would often refer to him) at Hesser College from 2010 to 2013; I was truly saddened to hear of his passing. David was an amazing person! I moved to New Hampshire from New York to start the position at Hesser, and David always took it upon himself to see how I was doing with the transition to New England. He was such a pleasure to be around, and he is one of the many reasons that I will never forget my time in NH. He was caring, extremely intelligent, and a treasure for the people that had a chance to know him. He will be missed. My deepest condolences to his friends and family. ~RRR

Dave was a remarkably caring and giving person. I worked with him for many years, and he was always concerned with the well being of others over himself. I am thankful for the care this organization provided him, and the care it provides others that need it. He really brightened the day of others around him, and he will be missed.
Dave was a really great person and will be missed greatly. I became very close with Dave when we worked together in advising for several years. It would be very common to receive text messages from Dave at midnite or later to just talk. Dave was the the type of guy who knew a little bit about everything. Perhaps we can all get together at some point so we can further share all of our stories.

I knew David Dionne really well, I considered him to be one of my confidants when I was working at Hesser College. His quirky personality as well a sense of humor always brought light to my work. A surprising fact about him is his incredible love for music, he knew a ton of bands that were incredibly good. We had a common love for a band called Anathema and we went to a show together in Cambridge many years back. It was one of the best shows I went to and I remember him hanging out at the bar watching the band with such love and admiration. We have hung out many times and I always learned something new about him. I am going to miss him and I hope his soul is now at rest. RIP Dave…

I can consider David to be one of my closest and dearest confidants when I was working at Hesser College. He would always pay a visit to my office everyday to see how I was doing. He would have amazing stories to tell and also have a great sense of humor. The one memory I have most about Dave is his love for great music, he knew so many obscure bands and he would give me a new recommendation everyday. We went to a show in Cambridge, MA many years back to see a band from England called Anathema. I was super surprised he loved this band and when I was at the show I could just see him sitting at the bar taking in the music in deep introspection. He had a similar connection as I had with this band and it was good to be able to talk to him about how amazing and moving their music is. I am going to miss him and I wish him eternal rest. I only worked with David for a short time at Hesser College, but that short time was a pleasure getting to know him and listening to his stories. Thank you for working with David and helping him find his purpose again. He was a great man and will be missed greatly! RIP David!
Thank you so much for sharing David’s story. I worked with him for about 6 or 7 years at the College and am so saddened to hear what he went through after he left. He was a kind man who was always willing to help those around him. He talked often about his family and always asked about mine. He was particularly interested in knowing what new things my two boys became involved in and would share stories of when he was a child. Thank you to all who helped him in his time of need and gave his life a sense of purpose again. It’s nice to know he found some happiness after such a difficult time. Rest in peace David.
David and I worked together at Hesser/Mount Washington for seven years. As a newcomer he made me welcome and we frequently chatted about school, Manchester history, world politics and all sorts of other topics – all of which he was well versed on. As his former colleagues discover David’s fate we are all heartbroken. Thank you for sharing his story.
