MANCHESTER, NH SEPTEMBER 14, 2025–In our report about the misconduct of Memorial High School history Jason Paige following the assassination of christian conservative civil rights leader Charlie Kirk, we made mention of Memorial’s flags being flown at full mast. President Donald Trump and Governor Kelly Ayotte ordered flags to be flown at half mast in tribute to Kirk. After questioning Superintendent Jennifer Chmiel about Memorial’s flags, she “confirmed” that the flags had been lowered to half mast.
Following that report, Girard at Large was made aware by parents of Hillside Middle School on Saturday evening that its flags remained at full mast. They provided several pictures from their trip to school on Friday, September 12. It stands to reason that the flags, including the state flag, were not lowered on September 11, as per the orders.
On Sunday September 14, Girard at Large drove past Hillside and saw that the schools flag remained at full mast (picture above) We’ve sent this article to Chmiel along with a request for an explanation as to why Hillside failed to lower the flag as directed by both President Trump and Governor Ayotte. We’ve also filed a Right to Know Request seeking any and all email communication to and from the administration and each school regarding the directive.
