Associated Grocers Supermarkets announced the top three winning teams from this year’s third annual short film contest, Operation Safe Prom initiative on distracted driving, on Friday, April 29.

The following statement is published as submitted by A.G. Supermarkets:

Dangers of Distracted/Impaired Driving

For the third straight year, AG Supermarkets (Sully’s of Allenstown and the new Harvest Ace Hardware of Bedford) is proud to announce its partnership with the Allenstown, Bedford and Pembroke Police Departments, and the Administration at both Bedford High School and Pembroke Academy to sponsor a short film contest to encourage high school students to make good choices when driving.

Seven submissions from both schools were forwarded by the local high school committees for consideration, and posted on the Associated Grocers of New England’s YouTube page: http://www.youtube.com/user/AGNewEngland.  The community was encouraged to vote and winners were chosen.

The Grand Prize winner was entitled “We All Scream for Ice Cream” by Chris Violette, Johnny Kiernan, Will Langan, and Jon Violette of Bedford High School.

Second place honors went to an untitled submission from Bedford High School by Nicola DiTomaso, Johnny Gabert, Ash Samuel and Jack Redman.  It depicted a distracted driving accident involving two pedestrians.

Third place award went to a film from Pembroke Academy students Sam Kingston and Ryan Phelps entitled “Make It”.

All of the submissions were clever and well done, and Associated Grocers of New England wants to thank all of those students who participated and made submissions.  We encourage everyone to drive responsibly and avoid Distracted Driving!
