Manchester, New Hampshire – September 23, 2017 – Did you know the Point In Time count (PIT) for homeless veterans, across the state of NH in 2016 was 1317?  Organizations such as The Way Home – a Manchester, NH based nonprofit are dedicated to helping veteran families and individuals obtain and succeed in safe, affordable housing and offer supportive services to nurture independence, and advocate for greater opportunity.

New Hampshire continues to make positive advances in getting people experiencing homelessness off the streets, out of shelters, and into a home.  In fact, there was a 9% drop in homeless veterans from 2015 and the lowest number in 5 years.  This is all great news and successful due to non profits throughout the state.

However, NO veteran should have to live or die on our streets!

The Way Home, offers its comprehensive services from its neighborhood-based Housing Resource Center at 214 Spruce Street in Manchester. Homeless persons are helped first to access shelter and supportive services and then, take steps to succeed in rental housing. Renters are helped to make housing more affordable, prevent eviction, and work with their landlords to reduce in-home health hazards. Homeowners are helped to prevent loss of their homes, or, assisted to secure rental housing and access community resources. Supportive housing provides affordable housing opportunities for homeless and at-risk households. Steps to Success coaching and skills training is the centerpiece of supportive services to help set and meet housing goals. Skills are strengthened in financial management workshops which were beneficial to over 1,000 persons in 495 households during 2016.

Our 7th annual “Veterans Ride Home” motorcycle charity can help get one more veteran or family off the street and into safe affordable housing.  And we NEED YOUR HELP!  Won’t  you please join us on Saturday, September 23rd, 2017.
