Manchester Man Faces Attempted Murder Charges

MANCHESTER, NH- On Wednesday, May 08, 2013, Manchester Police Detectives arrested a Manchester man without incident on warrants stemming from an incident first reported to police in November 2012.  The arrested party is identified as:

Jesus Luis Rodriguez
23 years old
Manchester NH

Rodriguez is charged with Attempted Murder; two counts of felony Criminal Threatening and 2 counts of felony Reckless Conduct.  The charges stem from an investigation into a reported shooting that occurred on November 29, 2012 t about 5:22 PM at Andrew’s Barber Shop at 262 S. Main Street in Manchester.

On that date and time, Manchester Police had responded to the barber shop for a report of shots fired and, on arrival, located a man who had been shot three times in the leg.  Two other patrons, identified as brothers, and the barber, also in the shop at the time of the shooting, were not injured.

An investigation revealed that a man had entered the barber shop, produced a handgun and fired that handgun at the victim, who was seated in the barber’s chair at the time.  Evidence collected at the scene indicated the shooter had fired the gun eight times in the direction of the victim, striking him three times in the leg.  According to witness accounts, the shooter shot at the man from a distance of approximately 4 feet and advanced on the victim, shooting at him as he jumped out of the chair and attempted to conceal himself from the shooter behind a wall.

In addition, one round was found to have penetrated the wall, entering a neighboring apartment where two adults and three children resided, although fortunately no one was home at the time of the shooting.  The two brothers who were seated in the waiting area at the time of the shooting were also threatened by the shooter who first pointed the gun at them before firing upon the victim.  The barber was also noted to be in close proximity to the victim at the time of the shooting but was not injured.

As a result of further investigation by a number of Manchester Police Detectives, Rodriguez was developed as a suspect, leading to his arrest yesterday.  Manchester Police continue to actively investigate the shooting.  Rodriguez is scheduled to be arraigned today in the 9th Circuit Court, District Division, Manchester.
