At the recent election, the voters approved abolishing the Hooksett Police Commission as of January 9, 2014 (240 days after passage).   At a special meeting held on May 16 all three member of the Hooksett Police Commission resigned effective immediately.

Although the situation is being reviewed by the Town Attorney, it appears that the Town Council will, in accordance with the Town Charter, need to appoint three new Commissioners to serve until the elimination of the Commission.  The Council will be discussing this issue at their May 22 meeting.  Town Administrator Dean Shankle explained that “the Council will begin dealing with this issue that evening and anyone interested in serving as a Commissioner should send an email to me with their qualification before then. “
