Sid Glassner 2(Hour 3b, c) Senior Fellow Sid Glassner of the New England Society for the Study of Education joined us for another examination of our public school system.

“Tis the season to be tested,” exclaimed Glassner and he shared a few incredible letters from exasperated parents who were denied the ability to opt out of knee-cap and smarter-balanced assessment tests.  Are students actually REQUIRED to take these tests?

Glassner described the mad, mad, mad, mad world that has become public education including a crazy story from Florida about an 11 year old boy with cerebral palsy who was required to take a standardized test.  The mother had to had to go the state legislature to get the law changed.

Parents all across the country are beginning to resist and Sid believes this is what will be necessary to affect required change.  “The people’s voice needs to be heard.  The insanity that has been injected into public education is unbelievable.”  Glassner also commented on the Bedford student survey.
