Sid Glassner

Fred Bramante returned for his third visit to Inside Education with Sid Glassner in an attempt to clarify certain aspects of Competency-Based Education (CBE),  an approach to teaching and learning that will eventually inhabit every public school district in the state which makes it incumbent for every parent and citizen to understand the nature of the approach.  Student evaluations under CBE is much different from what most parents are used to receiving from their children’s teachers.  Use of words and terms such as mastery, personalized learning and deeper learning are used frequently throughout descriptions of the approach but without any clear definitions of what they mean and how they are evaluated.  In New Hampshire CBE will travel under the name of Performance Assessment of Competency Education (PACE).  We are not finished exploring and analyzing this approach to learning and there will be more programs on this topic.
